Rolex Reunion 2018: The Year of Nissan
Photos and words by Courtney Cutchen Photography
Motorsport is an extreme effort of endurance, skill, and humility. It costs in was that extend beyond financial. It costs in time, testing, engineering, and sometimes, your sleep. One of the best examples of vintage motor racing that you can witness is the Monterey Rolex Reunion at Laguna Seca. From pre-war Bentleys to IMSA champions of the seventies and eighties, there is an abundance of history and heart packed into the paddocks of the track over this weekend of racing.
The 2018 Marque was given to Nissan, which proved to be a tremendous honor to the classic Datsun community. 510s, Fairlady Roadsters, and Z cars came out in full force. Below, we've put together a photo essay to give you a glimpse into this year's races. There is so much more to this gathering beyond the photos--the smells, the sounds, the exhilaration of shrill F1 cars and rumbling V8s loping about in old Mustangs. That said, we hope that you can at least imagine it all through the imagery.
Until next time, Monterey.
